To All our Valued and Loyal Via Lago Customers
As the colder weather approaches, we at Via Lago want you to know that we are doing everything possible to ensure that we keep you, our customers, as safe as we possibly can during the ongoing Covid-19 Crisis.
We are continuously sanitizing our restaurant, wearing our protective face coverings, hand washing and sanitizing, staying 6 feet or more from people and reducing any unnecessary contact with others. Our restaurant is now set up to have 6 feet or more between dining patrons, inside and out, as well as Contactless Payment and Curbside Pick Up.
We have also had an analysis done of our HVAC system, and are well above the recommended guidelines for Ventilation.
According to experts, two functions of air-conditioning systems can help prevent the spread of a virus: Ventilation — fresh air coming in to the building from outside — and filtration, or removing small particles from the air. Standard systems used in most commercial and public buildings, including restaurants, do both and “limit risk of aerosol transmission of covid-19,” Bahnfleth says. Under most current codes, a restaurant should replace all of its air with outside air about once every hour, or what’s called an “air exchange rate” of one. The society is recommending upping that to three times an hour, Lo notes. (Washington Post)
Reacting to the study, infectious disease aerobiologist Donald Milton of the University of Maryland told ABC News: “If there’s a good ventilation system, you’re not going to get enough exposure to be infected. If there isn’t good ventilation, then the data suggests that it’s crowded, poorly ventilated places where there have been outbreaks.” (Modern Restaurant Management)
Currently at Via Lago, the complete Air Change is more than 10 times per hour, well above the current code, and further helping our customers stay safe during these troubling times.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have at anytime. We appreciate all of you, and your patronage.

Hello Alan,
Please see the below calculations of the air changes per hour of your restaurant.
Total Cubic Feet of 1st Floor :
4,800 x 11.5 = 55,200 Cubic Feet
Total Cubic Feet of Basement :
2,000 x 8 = 16,000 Cubic Feet
Total Cubic Feet of Restaurant :
55,200 + 16,000 = 71,200 Cubic Feet
Total CFM of 1st Floor : 4,800 Cubic Feet Per Minute
Total CFM of Basement : 7,300 Cubic Feet Per Minute
Total CFM of Restaurant :
4,800 + 7,300 = 12,100 Cubic Feet Per Minute
12,100 x 60 = 726,000 Cubic Feet per Hour
726,000 / 71,200 = 10.19 Air Changes Per Hour
According to this your restaurant meets the required air changes per hour needed for the use of the space. Please see air changes table attached.
Please contact me if you have any questions on the above.
